Liberty Day's Celebration America program is the successor to its 2007 Colorado Constitution Day Celebration, a successful event held at the University of Colorado at Denver on Saturday, September 15th, 2007.
The Constitution Day Celebration was headed up by Jimmy Sengenberger, now a graduate of Grandview High School and the National Director of Liberty Day's Celebration America program.
Celebration America is intended to fulfill the original purpose of the 2007 Colorado Constitution Day Celebration: To educate students on the contents of the Constitution, the greatness of our government system, and our rights and responsibilities as Americans (and teenagers!) and to inspire them to action in a fun, interactive, and engaging manner. Only this time, we’re giving them the chance to become even more involved through the opportunity to teach others what they know.
Celebration America is a youth-run program intended to inform students about the Constitution, inspire them to action, and involve them in the political process in a fun, interactive, and engaging manner. Only this time, we're giving them the chance to become even more involved!
Celebration America is broadening its scope for 2008, expanding out into our Student-Teacher program, for which college and high school students across the nation will go into 5th grade classes to teach the kids about the U.S. Constitution. It is Liberty Day's wish to have celebrations of all kinds throughout the United States on or around Constitution Day, September 17th. Our mission is to bring together all Americans—parents, kids, and young adults—to ensure that every American knows the basics of our country!
We will also be holding our second annual Constitution Day Celebration at the University of Colorado at Denver on Saturday, September 20th!
Liberty Day is a national organization, based in Denver, Colorado, founded 11 years ago by its President, Andy McKean. Liberty Day is the organization behind the Celebration America effort.
Our Mission Statement:
Liberty Day is a non-profit, non-partisan volunteer effort to educate Americans about the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. Our goal is to come alongside educators, parents, civic organizations, and government officials to provide them with ways to reach our youth with the facts of our founding documents.
